So here we have the most random spot, probably not just in Sardinia, but in general, of my spotting career, this amazing R8 V10 Spyder with a cool aftermarket rims set, that I have spotted in the very small birth town of my grandfather from mother side, who spent there the first years of his life before leaving for Turin where he lived until his death in 2022.
Gesturi is a small town, with just 1100 inhabitants, of a not much touristic area of Sardinia, closer to the middle of the island in a much wilder area than the beaches of the coastal areas.
This area recently received some popularity as the town is trying to attract some tourists in the pleateau (and natural park) called Giara di Gesturi where you can find a very rare animal that lives only in this place, a small wild horse, the last surviving wild horse species in Europe!
This R8 appeared in front of us while we were waiting at an intersection and we couldn't believe our eyes, we chased it and it luckily stopped in front of a cafe, where the owner, despite the German plates, started talking in the local dialect to other clients sitting there, my mother, that knew more than me the town, asked him if I was allowed to take some pics and he accepted with no problems, probably finding that quite funny, he had no problems to leave the car open as a so small place where everyone knows each other is very safe for sure, when we called him, my grandfather was really happy and surprised to hear that I have managed to spot a car in the small town of the Sardinian countryside where his life started almost 80 years before :)
